Choosing a Septa Cap to Prevent Sample Failure

10 January 2018 Posted by: makeyourmark New Technologies
Learn how to choose the right septa cap for your needs.

The septa cap that fits the GC vials may seem like the least important component in the screenings that occur in laboratories, but ensuring that your lab has the right GC septa caps shouldn’t be approached with the whimsy of picking the first septa products you find in a catalog.

Not all septa products are universal.

Determining the right septa by material, relevant to the analysis being performed, is a critical step in sample preparation. The HPLC, GC or Headspace instrument in use will also determine the right material based on the injection needle and speed of the injection.

For the highest level of cleanliness Integrated Liner Technologies, ILT, can provide a silicone/PTFE certified lined cap where the material is cured to a level 4 to remove siloxanes from the base material.

Our products undergo HPLC and LCMS testing using exclusive test methods and protocols developed in cooperation with leading chromatographers and scientists. Testing and certification begins with the raw material and continues throughout the manufacturing process. A test certificate is issued and the actual chromatogram provided to our customers for all caps manufactured to verify that the high level of cleanliness is maintained throughout the process.

Integrated Liner Technologies, ILT, produces state-of-the-art septa products that include slit or non-slit design, and reseal ability. We have a variety of septa caps that can tolerate multiple injections to avoid debris. Made in the USA, ILT’s septa caps are made in our upstate New York headquarters and are the highest quality.
